Poodle skirts are one-size-fits-most, elastic waist, made from comfortable and easy to care for poly/cotton broadcloth. Skirts stretch from 14" to 28" in the waist and are approximately 19" in length.
There are plenty of 1950 poodle skirt patterns online and in stores.
The design of 50s skirts proved to be popular with teenage girls as it was a long, flowing, and very feminine design that would permit the showing of the legs during dancing, which (at the time) was somewhat risque and flirty.
